The Ferry House Inn
Gorgeous venue and amazing place to photograph in - I had a fantastic time photographing here. The Staff genuinely care about the clients and go above and beyond to ensure they get an amazing day, I just had to put together a slideshow of the shoot to demonstrate just how wonderful your wedding day can be here - regardless of weather
After the slideshow I will give you a bit of a tour of the Ferry House Inn so you can start to see exactly how your day can look as well as some information about the venue, taxis and local accommodation.
The best of kent weddings
https://www.gettingmarriedinkent.co.uk/
The beautiful waterside barn wedding venue is located in Kent. it’s found down a long (long) bumpy road on the banks of the Thames Estuary, surrounded by countryside and natural wetland reserves. I feels like your own private yet accessible nature reserve.
Where exactly is the ferry house inn Leysdown?
As you can see the venue is located in an idylic countryside location not far from Faversham, Whistable, Canterbury, it’s nestled in there so you do not see or hear anything other than the sound of your own wedding. This location gives extra options for a sunset stroll, that path takes you all the way to the waters edge (in fact into the water) which will make for some gorgeous photos. Unfortunately when i shot there we had December deep deep fog - so i am looking for the opportunity for some gorgeous sunset weather.
Getting ready at the Ferry house inn
The preparation room at the Ferry House Inn looks gorgeous and just what you need for an amazing day - with large lit mirrors for Hair and Make-up, it will be the perfect on site location to get ready. it also works out very well for photography as there simply is no time lost in travelling - in essence you are not paying your photographer to drive.
It is also awesome for a first reveal to a dad/mum or someone else important to you - there is a lot of space which means that we can position everyone to get that gorgeous and emotional moment.
Winter ceremonies at the Ferry House Inn
You have lots of options at this idyllic rural barn wedding venue - outside or inside, both offer fantastic options for your wedding day - it really just depends on the weather. The rustic nature of the barn is perfect for a wedding, it’s light and airy as well with windows facing towards the water. the wedding below was during covid times, so the number of guests here is reduced, but had gorgeous warm light, sparkling fairy lights which add a lovely winter ambient glow to the ceremony.
What if the weather is bad at the ferry house inn?
It’s a great question and something that most people do worry about, but please try not to. The fantastic thing about this wedding venue is there are plenty of opportunities inside for photos and all the most amazing spots outside for photos are easily reached quickly if there is a break in the rain. All the photos below used the weather to it’s advantage:
This picture above for example was taking in a dark corner of the car park - you can really use the rain to create some gorgeous effects
The Fog on this particular day was very bad. I remember driving on the day and thinking to myself - is it worse with headlights on or off as the light was getting so heavily diffracted. This couple really wanted photos by the waters edge so I thought I would use the fog to enhance the picture - Flashes behind and in front create this effect and you can see this wonderful aura around the couple.
With so many amazing highlights and lights in the barn itself, it meant there were some fantastic opportunities to create a little bit of magic for this couple
